CABO SAN AGUSTIN

LINEA MEDITERRANEO - BRASIL - PLATA

owned by Ybarra Y Cnia cruise line (built in Sevilla, Spain in 1931)

The MV CABO SAN AGUSTIN was a steam turbine ship that operated passenger services between Spain and South America from 1931 to 1938. It was 147 meters in length and weighed 11,868 tons.

A VERY RARE WORLD WAR TWO COLLECTIBLE... The MV CABO SAN AGUSTIN was detained in Feodosia (in Crimea on the Black Sea coast) in 1938 by the Soviet Union, renamed MV DNEPR in 1939 and assigned to the Soviet Navy (Black Sea State Shipping). On March 10, 1941 the ship was attacked by German aircraft and sunk by torpedo. 40 crew and passengers were lost. 163 crew and passengers were rescued by the Soviet mine-sweeper Yakor.

I purchased this rare artifact forty years ago at an art gallery in Beverly Hills, California. It has been carefully stored flat in a smoke-free and pet-free environment since I acquired it. Dimensions are approximately 19 1/4" x 13 5/8". Never hung. Never displayed. No tackholes. No stapleholes. Smooth surface. Scored in fourths but has been stored flat for over 50 years. Has some very minor wear where it was scored and some very minor edgewear. There are three very hard to see repaired tiny half inch tears along the left margin around nine o'clock. (These flaws are rather inconsequential, but I mention them nonetheless. See close-up photos. OWN A RARE PIECE OF WORLD WAR TWO HISTORY. LOOKS GREAT. READY TO FRAME.

GRAB IT NOW WHILE YOU CAN WITH THE "BUY IT NOW" OPTION.

Buyer pays $12. for secure INSURED shipping in a crushproof PVC tube via USPS PRIORITY MAIL with TRACKING (within the continental USA). Shipping elsewheremay be higher.
