VINTAGE/ANTIQUE WARNING LIGHT is CLEAN
LOOKING and WORKS GREAT: 12VDC. The Federal Beacon Ray 173 antique special order beacon is fully operational. It is a special unit that flashed more than the standard production 2 lamp model. The 3 lamps rotate fast, quietly and smoothly. It should fit perfectly on a vintage GMC or other vintage emergency vehicle with sloped roof. It turns fast, smooth and all of the clear glass sealed beam lamps work for a dazzling effect to clear traffic under a rare, factory original 1950's-60's plastic ruby RED lens. The lens looks new and unused, but we are selling it as USED. Again, the lens looks to be the early 1950's -1960's factory original heavy ruby RED plastic. It is in very good condition looks unused, but has some very minor scratches -- they are hard to capture in a photograph --see pictures, but is clear with no cracks or breaks. The case of the light is chrome plated brass. The chrome has some wear, tarnish, scratches, blemishes - see pictures, also very hard to capture in the photographs --normal for a light of its age. The skirt is trimmed slightly to fit on a sloped vehicle roof that most vehicles had in the late 1950's and early1960's. The light is approximately 11 inches high with a small taper to the rear. There is some light tarnish on the light's internal unit (as expected for a light of this age)--see pictures. The gasket look to be in very good condition. Again, we are selling everything as USED, but the lens looks new -- see all pictures.
It is unknown if the light was ever used in the early 1960's RESCUE 8 show, before the very popular EMERGENCY! show, but it is identical to the antique type of emergency light used in California in the time of the old RESCUE 8 T.V. series for responding L. A. County rescue trucks.
(Rescue 8 T.V. Show was based on true stories, a la Dragnet and was the
forerunner to Jack Webb's extremely successful show EMERGENCY! The black and white series
follows the exciting experiences of two firefighter rescue specialists from Los Angeles County Fire
Department namely, Wes Cameron and Skip Johnson. Their mission was to help and
rescue people from dangerous situations, such as
car accidents, stranded hikers, building collapses and a lot more. This T.V. show was the forerunner of the better known EMERGENCY! show in 1972.
