Up for sale is a VERY RARE Hanson/Stowell vintage blacksmith vise/anvil combo. I could not find any info or photos that were even close to this vise after spending nearly an hour searching on and Google. My neighbor seems to think it was a railroad vise used back when tracks were being built across America but I have no idea the what type of vise this is. You are buying it in the vintage condition as I found it, I do not clean items that have collector value, I leave that up to the discretion of the buyer. The markings at the base are hard to read, especially the date stamp but here is what *I THINK* the markings say. \"Stowell Mfg Fdry CO, ?? Mil Wis, O.H. Hanson Pat Oct 1888 (or perhaps 1886)\". Please do your own research about markings, age and type of vise. Vise seems to work well, no apparent chips or cracks. Please review all photos for cosmetic description. Vise measures 18\" long (when closed) by 6\" wide at widest part of base. Vise weighs roughly 37lbs.
