RARE SHAKER LATE 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN FOLK ART ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED, SINGLE FINGERED, OVERLAPPED SEAMS, 5" in DIAMETER LIDDED PANTRY BOX, featuring ALL ORIGINAL PAINTED SURFACESin DRY, MATTE FINISH, 100%, ABSOLUTELY UNTOUCHED[Offered for your review & consideration is this pretty spectacular, simply fabulous & with tapered, seamed, chamfered overlapping fingers, 5" in diameter bentwood lidded pantry box.It still enjoys its original, authentic, 100% original, first generation nut brown painted finish. The paint's honest & hasn't been redressed or touched up. The pantry box, now 130 to 155 years old, was found in southern New Hampshire & may have previously been associated with or realized at Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury, NH. The pantry box doesn't experience any fractures or depreciating, significant paint or wood material loss, aside from a few superficial, shallow surface scuffs & scrapes, as well as one very small nick & subsequent wood loss on the bottom margin of the pantry box, underneath the large, single fingered overlapping tie, that's nailed to the box's sidewall underneath. The bottom of the pantry box is constructed in much the same way as its single fingered lid. The surfaces are naturally oxidized & the nut brown paint has now darkened over time & has a dry, matte finish. The overlapping fingered seams are tight & snugly fit against the bentwood sidewalls underneath. Very handsome & very scarce.
