This is an original, sealed, canister of Dr. Herrick\'s Sugar Coated Vegitable Health Pills. The pills are inside a little wooden box, that is still sealed inside it\'s original paper packaging and wax seal. After various internet searches, we have only come across one other box like this that is currently in the Museum of Health Care in Kingston, Canada, and even that box is not in its original, sealed and unopened condition. It is very rare to come across sealed and preserved pharmaceuticals like this from the Civil War era. The printed paper label states \"DOCT. HERRICK\'S SUGAR COATED VEGETABLE HEALTH PILL // DOSE 2 TO 6 PRICE 25 CTS\" around an image of a man, in 1800s era clothing. One side of the package states \"PURCHASERS: BE ON YOUR GUARD, AS THERE ARE BASE COUNTERFEITS ABROAD\" while the other side says \"PRINCIPAL DEPOT, ALBANY, NY\". The bottom of the package is printed with the signature of \" L R Herrick, M.D.\"Please note, the photos of the 1800\'s newspaper advertisements are digital images, and for reference only, not a printed part of the sale.
