Wonderful and very rare photograph and subjects by iconic New York photographer Edward J. Kelty.
The amazingly clear signage on these billboards alongside Broadway, New York (\"the Great Wide Way\") vividly tell the story. A benefit to be held from July 22 to August 5th in tents alongside Yankee Stadium for the benefit of offering free milk to the children of New York. The grand guest performance was the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch Wild West rodeo show (of Oklahoma), one of the most popular Wild West troupes in the country....... To the left are trolley cars, vintage cars and fashionably dressed women and men in their straw hats strolling. Broadway theatre\'s, including the Strand, line the avenue.
The glossy stock photograph measures 8 x 10 and has a 2 1/2 inch crease in the center-left, diagonally across the large number 22 above the \"Walk Over Shoes\" billboard and a light one off the edge in the upper right. See the last two scans. However, it does not detract from this terrific convergence of Urban and Wild West subjects by a famous photographer. The Edward J. Kelty and Century Flashlight Photographers Inc stamp is on the back. The photograph is GUARANTEED to be vintage and not a reproduction or later copy. Purchase with confidence. I\'ve been a collector of photographs, important documents and publications related to Native American history for over 35 years. I am not a commercial dealer. My collection mainly covers the period from early 1700\'s to 1930. The images (all original) are of various sizes and have been safely stored in archival museum boxes in a climate controlled setting. They are in the same condition as when I acquired them.... Please let me know if you are searching for anything in particular and I will be happy to check and place them on if available.
I also have some interesting non-Native material and vernacular photographs that caught my eye over the years.... See my current listings and watch for others....
Always interested in any response that might shed additional light on this item.
