This listing is for a bit of a mystery piece. I believe it is some sort of grave marker or placard made of stoneware. It may be from a grave or crypt, memorial, or some other architectural/ memorial feature - I unfortunately have no provenance to go with it yet. It is double sided, one side appears to have a sort of family tree, the other is dedicated to one person & an image. I am unsure how the drawing and words were applied, it appears to be all hand done and hand made. The internet has specified the region of Catalonia in Spain as the dialect, but I take that with a grain of salt. The edges are mostly unglazed and left rough- as if it was inset into something at one time. It is not signed or marked by a maker. I believe it was made in 1924 as thats the most recent date- definitely not a newer or reproduction piece. It is a great unusual item for collectors of momento mori / mourning pieces, architectural features, and just plain oddities! A nice gift, display / decor item, and more.
The front says “Honorio Sanchez De La Vega” (I assume this is the name & location of residence, or Vega is used in the sense of a title meaning “dweller of the meadows”). In the upper center is a depiction of some sort of monument I believe. Below this it notes that he died on April 14th 1891, at age 33.
On the reverse is more of a “family tree” with 3 sets of Names & corresponding birth / death dates. They are as follows;

(April 18 1830 - July 13 1912)
El Sr. Daniel Marquez
(September 7 1881 - April 23 1913)
La Sra. Maria Antonia Marquez
(September 18 1852 - November 5th 1924)
It is also decorated with various symbols, stars and different types of crosses. Around the border is a simple twisting pattern that is decorated.
It is in good condition, with no structural cracks or other major damage. It has some of the usual wear to whatever glaze and paints are used, with some light bubbles etc. On the back is some red paint, which I have not attempted to remove. No major areas of fading. Some very light chips / nips to the edges as is typical of a piece of this age. Has one area across the front that has been more heavily worn, could be re-painted to fill in the pattern or left as is. Has felted feet attached to the bottom by a previous owner, I have not tried to remove them for fear of causing damage. Can be displayed using them as a cushion, or framed / mounted for wall hanging at buyers preference.
