St. Venantius ofCamerino (Italian: San Venanzio) was a 15-year old Christian who was torturedand martyred by decapitation at Camerino during the persecutions of Decius (c. 18May 251 or 253). St. Venantius was buried outside the city walls of Camerino, where abasilica was built in the 5th century, and subsequently rebuilt many times. Springsnear the basilica were considered miraculous and were used by lepers and peoplewith peptic ulcers to cure their illnesses.
