Extremely RARE Antique Circa 1891 W.H. Grindley The Imperial Flow Blue LOTUS Pattern with Gold Accent Platter. This GORGEOUS Platter is in INCREDIBLE condition!!! There isn’t even any crazing to this piece which is unheard of with porcelain pieces this old. It must have been kept inside a china cabinet to have remained in such immaculate condition for over 100 years! The flow blue floral lotus pattern is crisp and vibrant in color. The only flaws, if you could call them that, would be the loss of gold outline paint and color to the flowers and the rim of this platter.
Not only is this piece stunning in its condition, but it has BOTH the GREEN Wreath W.H. GRINDLEY & CO ENGLAND “THE IMPERIAL” Stamp and the BLUE W.H. GRINDLEY “LOTUS” Globe Stamp along with an impressed 57 and hand written gold SI or 51 on the bottom of the platter. Measures 14 1/4” Long by 11” Wide with a 1 1/2” Height. I have taken very detailed pictures… there are three pin prick sized dots or mark on the platter which I’m sure are normal factory flaws. There is also one light brown colored glaze skip or pop on the backside which I’m sure was also from the factory. Then there are four spots to the rim of the platter which I’ve shown above that look like deposits of gold paint on the rim, but they are not chips. Flaws like the ones I’ve taken close up pictures of to show are very common and almost expected with porcelain of this age.
This beautiful serving platter would look amazing anywhere in your home. From it being the centerpiece of a nice wall collage to the centerpiece of your China cabinet, to the only item decorating a wall, you will love it from the moment you see it.
