Here is anAbsolutely Beautiful Circa 1970’s-Early 80’s Weathered Cast BronzeCosanti/Arcosanti ‘Wind Bell’ in a Mid Century Modern Style, after the originaldesign by the internationally renowned listed architect, sculptor, craftsman& urban designer ‘Paolo Soleri’ (Italian-American, 1919-2013), and itsone-of-a-kind outer embellishments are the result of the individualartisan/designer responsible for the creation, casting, and completion of theBell. This Bell was verified via email with Cosanti at their website. This bellis part of many estate items. Includedas well is the original paperwork. Well packed it weighs just under 12 pounds.

I was told in email by Won the Bell design is Model #115with ‘Bronze Patina’ and consists of the top three flat style ‘F-links’ (orlinkage), then the Bell housing itself which is replete with unique sideembellishments of small protrusions/spikes called ‘Abstract Geometric Reliefs’,and internally there is the bronze ‘Clapper’ which hangs inside and rings theBell, and then finally there is the attached triangle copper ‘Fin’ at thebottom to catch the wind. Soleri originally designed the linkage, the Bellhousing, clapper and fin styles, but that the individual artisan that cast& finished this particular Bell added the unique outer embellishmentshimself (so it’s a collaborative design), and therefore one-of-a-kind, like allSoleri works are. The Soleri Studios ‘Cosanti/Arcosanti’ embossed square castmonogram ‘hallmark’ appears on the bell housing. The hallmark is a stylizedabstract spelling of the name ‘Cosanti’, which Soleri coined from thecombination of two Italian root-words “Cosa” (meaning: things) and “Anti”(meaning: before), and can either be embossed, stamped or incised on thedifferent Soleri bronze & ceramic bells and various bronze or ceramic pots,planters & bowls.

It displays awonderful ‘weathered/oxidized’ patina (in addition to its original ‘bronzedpatina’) from being displayed outdoors over the decades. Cosanti still makesthis Model #115, and purchased new, it sells from $185-259 depending on thespecific finish requested (Patina or Burnish). The overall length is about 23-1/2”,and the bell housing size itself is 7” tall x about 7-1/8”. Please review thepictures with the measuring tape. I took pictures all angles for your review. TheBell is in Very Good overall condition consistent for its age and use and thebell sound is quite beautiful with a deep haunting tone and sustainedresonance. This would make the perfect addition to any Soleri or Mid CenturyModern art collection.
