These \"Foot Ball\" banks were introduced in the 1920\'s as football started the gain popularity (more at the college level, but also as pro leagues began to form the NFL) in the US. This is one of the finest operating mechanical banks I own and as I am getting older, need to sell some of my older banks back into the market as my adult children have no interest. Original paint and mechanics.
A little history on these banks....This was the rarer second of 4 introductions of this bank \"type\" (the 1st being \"Calamity\" or rugby version which I will also have for sale at $2400). Then came this 1920 version promoting \"Foot Ball\". Later versions (types 3 and 4) had non-descript scrolling and after 1930 were cast in Taiwan as J E Stevens only made toy pistols after 1928. Note that this bank was NOT stamped \"Taiwan.\" Inspected and serviced recently and is completly operational.
