Original, rare hooked quillion British P1907 bayonet by Wilkinson and dated 1909.
Hooked quillion is 100% original.Bayonet and scabbard are both marked NSW 503 for New South Wales, Australia.Bayonet also has the British sales/removal from service stamp showing it left British service and was apparently sold to Australia.Overal, bayonet and scabbard are in very good shape with only a few issues.1. There are 2 spots of moderate pitting near the tip of the blade (1 on each side). Neither is deep but both are noticeable. See pictures.2. The top of both wood grips have some severe dings in them from hitting something at some time (both are stable). See pictures.
Aside from the above pitting, blade is fairly bright with its original edge and in very nice shape.Blade dated April 1909.
Wood grips both bear British proof stamps on them.Brazing slightly visible from where cross guard was attached.
Scabbard is in solid shape with NSW 503 on the rim of the metal throat as pictured.09 and other proof marks can be made out on the scabbard as well as the British removal from service stamp as well from when the bayonet was sold to Australia. This scabbard clearly has been with the bayonet all its life.If you have any questions, please contact me.
