Old West Dakota War Trial Judge U Of M Dr Rollin Olin 3rd MN Vols Cabinet Card: $300.00
1880’s to 1890’s Dr Rollin Carolus Olin published by Randall of Detroit. Rollin was a member of the 3rd Minnesota Infantry during the US Civil War. The 3rd were involved with battles against Native Americans during the War for the Union. Olin was appointed as judge advocate during the infamous Dakota War Trials of the 1860’s. He presided alone over the trials at the age of 22 with no legal background. The Native Americans on trial weren’t given legal representation. Each individuals trial was said to last 5 to 10 minutes. I posted Rollin’s lengthy bio that is on his Find-A-Grave entry. Rollin was a member of the GAR and Loyal Legion after the war. He earned a degree at the University of Michigan’s Homeopathic Medical School. Card measures a little less than 5 by 7 inch in size. Stains, toning and wear. Identified on the back. Feel free to ask questions.
