This cute little Boston Terrier has been in my family since it was purchased in Battle Creek, Mi. In 1912. My Grandma said it was a wedding gift for her Mom & Dad.
My Great Grandpa was a popular and well known attorney and this was his office doorstop and topic of frequent discussion. Legend has it that he has a flawless record of protecting rooms he looks over from burglars. (Maybe he is magic??).
In my research of this I found there are few real actual Hubleys on the market, most of them are knock offs and fakes marketed as Hubleys - probably by people not doing research and assuming, not knowing what they have. It is fairly easy ways to spot fakes. The fakes will actually have a screw visible holding the two cast halves together. It will also be rougher to the touch and since each original was hand painted, they were naturally imperfect. The fakes were painted in mass and are too perfect.
Unfortunately I have to part with this family heirloom , however he probably would like a change of scenery.
I am willing to accept offers within reason. I will pack him up carefully and will arrive undamaged, unless something catastrophic happens.
