August 25,1943 revised November 5, 1944 Army Air Forces issued Erection and Maintenance Instructions for the Piper L-4A, L-4B and L-4H Cub Grasshopper Liaison aircraft , AN 01-140DA-2, 39 pages in EXCELLENT, LIGHTLY USED condition!!.Please view the attached pics for a sample of the content of this manual! This is THE maintenance manual for ALL versions of the L-4 used by the military during WWII EXCEPT the L-4J. The L-4 was a spinoff for the military of the popular J-3 Cub. It was powered by a Lycoming O-170-3 or -7 engine of about 125hp and had a wooden prop. Provisions are for a pilot and observer; the observer can face frontwards or backwards. This manual has everything you need to know to maintain these grasshoppers with diagrams and photos explaining the ins and outs of the aircraft! Covers every inch of this aircraft including: shipment and erection procedure, handling and general maintenance, wings, tail, fuselage, engine, landing gear, useful and military load installation, materials of contstruction, finish specifications, tubing charts and service inspection. The L-4 was designed to be a liaison aircraft, artillery spotter and possess the ability to take off of short unimproved strips and clear obsticles quickly.
