Ornate enamel bronze and brass theca case 2,8 inches high by 2,8 inches wide (7cm by 7cm) which contains a hair relic of St.Bernadette Soubirous (1844 -1879) French shepherd girl who saw numerous apparitions of the Virgin Mary in the Grotto of Lourdes in 1858. She was canonized in 1933.

Hand painted enamel on a bronze cross shape theca case decorated with colorful flowers and designs. The center compartment is under glass on a red cloth background with golden metallic cord border trim. 

The relic is compose of a tiny strand of hair from the saint placed on a white backing above the latin name label which read \" S.M.Bernardae \" ( St.Marie Bernard ). The name that Bernadette adopted when she entered the Convent of Nevers in 1866 and became a nun. 

The brass back case cover can be removed to view the red strings seals and an official red wax Church seal with Bishop\'s hat and stem, all are in place and intact. With folding stand attached to the back case cover.

A very ornate relic piece in excellent condition with minor signs of wear and age.
