Beautiful Masterpiece by the Haida First NationartistGLEN RABENA

FEAST BOWL -This truly is highest Quality carving from a worldwide known Master Artist!

The bowl in the form of a bird on one side, with wingsgoing along the side of the Bowl, ending up holding a human face in his clawson the other side, very finely carved. The upper rim is inlaid with Abalone,the individual pieces cut by Glen Rabena. Feast bowlswith the Haida wereoften used to serve candle fish oil, which was eaten as a delicacy and used tosoften dried berries. This piece is exceptionally well executed. Carved out ofsolid Maple wood. A truly masterfully carved and painted piece of Haida art.

Measurements: 12\" x 9\" x 6\"

The Artist: Glen Rabena, born inWapato,WAwas adopted into the Eagle Clan by HereditaryHaida Chief, Claude Davidson, at a potlatch in Massett, Haida In 1986-87 Glen worked with Claude\'s sons Robert and his brother RegDavidson, both acclaimed artists. Projects included various private commissionsand the three totem poles at Pepsico\'s World Headquarters inPurchaseNY,USA. Glen helped Reg carve thefirst pole in modern time to be raised at a potlatch for the naming of a chief.During the fall of 1990, Glen Rabena and Reg Davidson were Artists in Residenceat Headlands Centre for the Arts inSan Francisco, where together, they carved a thirty footcanoe.Glen todayspends most of his time carving wooden masks,boxes, and bowls for private collections and galleries. He has beencommissioned to produce ceremonial objects to be used and given away atpotlatches.
