NOS Antique Surveyors Transit Tripod With Extension legs And Original Case USFS:
$337.99

This is a antique Transit Tripod by the American Blueprint Co. inc. NY. As you can see in the pictures it has legs that extend. This was in storage for many years with the US Forest Service. By its condition I do not believe it was ever used. The green military paint shows no wear except for marks from storage. When I opened it to take the pictures it was still stiff from the painting process and it was clear that it was never used. There is flaking of paint on the brass. It has a threaded connector that I have not seen before. If you look at the pictures I have shown that the threaded connector is on a ball joint type of arrangement so that the instrument mounted on it can swivel. The case is made of canvas and leather is very strong and in good condition. In fact at each end of the case there are flat pieces of wood inside that help keep the ends of the tripod, especially the pointed ends, from tearing the case. This is a beautiful item and is in great working and aesthetic condition. Under the green painted legs are made of hardwood. I have another not painted and the legs are maple. It could be oak or ash, I have seen both on tripods like this. What a nice antique piece this is. It would make a great lamp inside the right place as I have for my post and beam home with another of these beauties. The pictures do not do this marvelous rare item justice. You won't be disappointed in this one and won't find many of them available. Please ask questions if interested, I always respond. If you can provide any information on this cool piece of history please do. Especially about the unique threaded ball joint connector.
I only ship outside the United States via the global shipping program.
Take care and god bless.Don
PS There is no handling charge on this item. I just changed it to $0.00. It will be packed well with insurance added.
