United States buyers only!To be Honest… Even though I have been collecting Native American objects & artifacts for over 40 years & have a extensive reference library, I can only “Speculate at best,” about most of the attributes of a specific piece! Because I wasn’t there when it was made, and I mostly buy used so I have generally no idea about a piece’s history, whether it’s spent it’s life in someone else’s collection (who did or didn’t know what they were buying), or was in a pet free or smoke free environment (I can only observe, smell, feel & guess at these things). So mostly what dealer’s & myself are telling you is a bunch of speculative best guessing at best, and when it comes to Native American items & artifacts I’m afraid to say there are quite allot of reproductions & fakes out there. I\'m by no means a \"expert,\" but over my collecting lifetime excluding artifacts (which I have quite a bit of), I have probably owned, bought & sold over 500 Native American objects, so I do tend to know “a bit,” and better yet, I won\'t BS you when I don\'t know, because collecting Native American items, sharing & enjoying them has always been more important to me, than just making a buck!I’ve walked fields in Calif, Idaho, Utah, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa & Texas (were I’ve lived), gone to hundreds of Native American shows, sales, Museums, Galleries, & seen many important private collection! Written, designed & had a children’s coloring book on North West Coast Art, published & sold all across the country (including in allot of the National Parks & Museum Bookstores). And for a number of years in the late 90’s, early 2000’s was the editor of the Minnesota Chapter of Central States Archaeological Journal. I’ve been collecting Native American Basketry for most of my life, because unless you’re uneducated enough to buy foreign baskets “posing as American baskets,” Native American baskets are one of the few Native American things that aren’t forged or reproduced (just to labor intensive to make fake ones). Plus the fact that most of them are fairly-old, mostly from the 40’s or older. At this point in my life I basically only specialize & collect California Coiled Baskets (as I don’t have the space, the money & just can’t collect all of them anymore, LOL)! Anyway because I’m retired I can look allot & find allot (and occasionally do find things relatively cheap that I just pass along), so keep a eye on my sales, you might find something you like… be moving in four months so I\'ll be selling off lots of my personal artwork, antiques, collectables, tools & other misc, stuff (So I’m going to have allot of good stuff coming up over the next few months keep a eye on my sales, there will be allot of cool stuff at decent prices)!Description:Classic Washoe winnowing basket for you California Collectors! Probably from the 30’s or older. It’s in pretty nice condition (with the exception of some missing rim stitches on the top left & right sides), other than that it’s in great condition with no breaks, holes or stains to the rest of it. Classic Washoe 3 branded design. Has a thread woven in on the back for wall hanging. Nice wall hanging traditional “work basket,” piece that displays great with any basketry collection. Size is 16” wide X 17.5” long, 1 rod foundation, twined willow with sedge root designs. Payed $220. For it (which I thought was a good deal way back when) and with shipping costs I’ll break even at $240.
