This is a very beautiful and rare Beryl var. Morganite from the famous Stewart Mine in San Diego Co., California. The Stewart is well known for its vibrant pink tourmalines but these Morganites are notably rarer. This floatereuhedralcrystal cluster is complete-all-round with a pleasing peach-pink colour. The very complex and gemmy crystals are glassy and transparent to translucent. There is a remnant of purple Lepidolite and bladed Cleavelandite on the side. The cluster is about 4.4 cm by 3.5 cm by 3.1 cm indimension and weighs about 57 grams (290 ct).
I understand this material is from the 1960\'s and is ex. Dave Stoudt Collection. A very significant andaestheticallyimpressive piece.
The photographs were taken in natural daylight with no adjustments other than to control brightness and contrast. I have done my best to accuratelyrepresentthe crystal but this piece is extremely difficult to photograph.
