Limited edition of 4810 with 925 sterling silver barrel and cap, gold-plated fittings and rhodium plated 18-carat gold nib. I purchased this fountain pen some 20 years ago. It's been in my collection since. At one time, I was trying to collect all of the Montblanc "Patron of Arts" series, but never completed the set. Now it's time to sell some of my collection. This fountain pen would come with its original case, box, outer box and brochure/service instructions. This fountain pen has never been inked. Please study the pictures for best description of the product and condition. The 925 sterling silver body is beautiful and literally sparkles in the light. The engraving on the nib is spectacular and the four gold filigree bans add a great look to this outstanding pen. The engraving on the nib includes the Emperor Charlemagne's Monogram, the numbers 4810, the Montblanc Mountain Logo, the year 2000 and the word Montblanc. The 18 carat gold nib is medium.
As a long time fountain pen collector, I'm very careful how I ship pens. I pack them like I'm the one who will be receiving. I use new boxes and quality packaging materials and use the box lock method of taping for security. I have recently wiped this pen with the yellowpolishing cloth shown in the photos. I will include this polishing cloth as you will need it to keep this beautiful sterling silver sparkling clean! The acrylic pens stands are not included. The brochure includes the original certificate and the pen's serial number of 2082/4810 is etched on the pen body.

The Patron of Art Edition Karl der Grosse, Hommage à Charlemagne pays tribute to this great cultural visionary of the first millennium with an equally great writing instrument. The barrel and cap of Edition 4810 are made of delicately wound 925 sterling silver. The detailed gold-plated fittings are reminiscent of Carolingian features in the decoration of Aachen Cathedral, where Charlemagne was crowned. The hand-worked, rhodium-plated nib in 18-carat gold is decorated by an engraving of an early Medieval pattern and the emperor's monogram.

More than 1,000 years ago, as the founder of the Carolingian Renaissance - the fusion of classical ideals with the intellectual heritage of the Germanic world - Charlemagne created the basis for western culture and a European identity. He was in constant and close contact with the great scholars and artists of his time, and established at his palaces the court schools in which, among other things, the Carolingian minuscule - the precursor of all later western families of writing - evolved. This is truly a master work by Montblanc. You will not find a nicer, more well appointed fountain pen that is so highly collectible. Go ahead and treat yourself to something special ...
