Of interest to collectors. An impressive set of 4 Antique Samplers belonging to the same family, 3 are samplers created by 2 sisters, the fourth sampler is I believe their mother\'s if my Ancestry research is correct.
2 are signed \"Milverton\". Milverton is in Somerset, England. Milverton is well known for it\'s Quaker school and Samplers.The mother\'s sampler was made in North Petherton, at M Dandos school.
The 4 samplers are offered as a rare chance to acquire Milverton samplers and a sister and mother grouping at the same time.2 are created by Catherine Tripe at Milverton and show her progression with a needle as made in two consecutive years. It is not often that such groupings become available.
They are offered as a family group.
There are a number of records on Ancestry linking the family to Milverton, and linking Catherine Easton\'s marriage to Theophilus Tripe, and daughters. The family are recorded on Censuses. In the 1851 census there are more details than the 1841,they are recorded as living in Preston Farm, Milverton, a 260 acre farm with 17 labourers, and house servants recorded. An important part of the community at the time, and still exists today. Catherine Easton\'s estate effects were under £3000, in 1860, a substantial sum in those days. Records for each of the girls lives and families are online. Please take a look and see if you agree, I think I have found the right family.There is scope for much research if desired, and plenty to discover about the family and about Milverton school. Really interesting examples of social history of the time, and great thatthey are still together.
All 4 samplers are framed and ready to hang and enjoy. Each sampler is signed by the maker, 3 named their school on their sampler.
Samplers, 1,2,and 4 have been conserved on cotton on museum mount board, and sealed at the back. All in antique frames which are sound, wear and patina commensurate with age. Some losses to samplers 2 and 3 , sampler 4 shows its age, sampler 1 long undisturbed in its frame and in good condition. Please zoom in on photos to appreciate and message me with any questions.
