The box is in estate fresh, very well-preserved overall antique condition, with its original brass hardware. The hand-cut rear brass hinges work properly & are not loose or reaffixed to their original, hand routered settings on the underside of the lid or on the top edge of the box's rear, interior sidewall. The interior of the box features unstained, unlacquered oak hardwood, single board, wood plank floor & interior sidewalls. The underside of the box is also not stained or lacquered & has a naturally lighter, dry, matte wood finish. The edges & exterior sidewalls of the lidded box are in very good, well-preserved shape, with perhaps a single nick & a slight scuff, marking what would have to be considered to otherwise be in nearly perfect, very clean shape. A bit later but no less very nice, primitive lidded box.
