MCM SPUTNIK ATOMIC Ceiling Fixture JAY LIGHTING Solid Brass w/ Bulbs - USA:

Vintage JAY LIGHTING Atomic Age Sputnik 16 Arm Solid Brass Ceiling Fixture - Made in USA
Very cool 1950's vintage atomic sputnik style 16 arm light fixture by Jay Lighting. This light fixture presents a very attractive appearance and will liven up a room's decor in an instant.UL and union made stickers on inside of ceiling mount cover shows Jay Ltg Mfg, Brooklyn, NY, as the manufacturer. Jay was known as the one of the earliest and primary marketers of this type of fixture and was a sponsor of the 1964-65 New York World Fair. Solid brass construction gives this fixture a substantial feel (~3 pounds without mounting hardware) and original mounting hardware is included. Pictures don't have all hardware displayed in the shots with bulbs illuminated- see pictures #7 & 8 for details on mounting hardware.
DIMENSIONS OF THE FIXTURE ARE AS orb 3 1/2" diameter, each arm is 8" long from orb to outside edge of brass socket cover, height from ceiling mount surface to bottom of orb is 14", width of the fixture on display including bulbs is 23".
Bulbs are included in the listing as follows... 13 working vintage 7W star fire bulbs , two additional star fire outer shells, plus ~ two additional shells in pieces, possibly for use or repair. The three colored 7W bulbs in pictures and two additional color bulbs are also included. Of the (13) working bulbs, several of the plastic shell covers have missing "prongs" but I'm still considering as working/complete as they appear whole when the fixture is lit. See pic #12 for details - (9) complete on the left, (4) with missing prongs and (2) missing prongs and needing replacement 7W clear bulb insert.Overall very good used condition with cosmetic flaws including light scratching and light tarnish on the brass surfaces. Since I acquired from estate earlier in the year, cleaning has been limited to a soft , non-chemical wipe and more shine is right around the corner.Wiring has been checked and is adequate for immediate use, buyer may modify or improve as desired, replacing at their optionPlease see all pictures for full condition detail.Fixture will be packed carefully and shipped securely to buyer's location.Thank you for visiting and don't wait too long on this 1950's Jay Lighting fixture!
