Not ,e but two Beautiful vintage Japanese Geisha dolls.Shiokumi is a simple but mysterious subject: a young woman, very richly dressed, and carrying a pair of pails, painted with waves, on a yoke across her back. She isShiokumi, a “salt-scooper” who carries seawater for the purpose of making salt.These were very popular in the mid twentieth century in Japan. They are deeply rooted in Japanese culture and folklore.Gently preowned, they are both in outstanding condition. You will note the smaller one does not have the yoke with baskets, but it looks as if there are holes in the hands for ones that were once there. I also appears a tiny decoration might be missing from the hair of the smaller one. Neither will take away from the beauty of this Japanese art.Their kimonos are made of silk material with brilliant colors. Hair and makeup is meticulous.Both are on a black wooden platform, standing approx. 13.5\" and 12\" HI would break up the set of you are only interested in one.
