Large Antique Theater EXIT Sign Art Deco Era Chicago Electric Glass Bead 4 avail:
$390

Unique and cool antique theatre sign from a Chicagoland building- the old Arlington Theatre in Arlington Heights, built in 1941 in the Streamline Moderne style. I have 3 total left of the same size and similar condition. This listing price is for one. You can select a larger quantity if desired, but I will sell the nicest ones first. All have the original wiring and should be replaced but as you can see, it still works and lights up the sign nicely. The photos do not translate this well, but the color of the sign glows a nice rich red color - it seems kind of washed out in the pics and I've tried to capture it better -but rest assured, they light up even better-looking in person. Each sign is sturdy and well made, with curved metal, perforated to hold reddish glass beads that light up when on, and are easy to see and read when off. There is some grime and paint and patina on it from many decades, not too much, but they definitely show their age and charm of yesteryear. There are glass beads in every hole, but some appear to be replacements as they are slightly different in color and shape upon inspection. Two of the signs have cracks in the metal at the top (one on one and two on another one- you can see in photos- the cracks or split metal parts do not affect the sturdiness or anything, I mention to be thorough). The "cover" is held on by screws, and I am supplying some, but they could use shorter screws - they're unnecessarily long.In this rare and unusual style with glass beads, I have a ladies/mens signs and also have "aisle" signs 1-4. Great Art Deco lettering and only signs I have seen in this old fashioned technique with glass balls/beading lit from within. Really nice vintage gems for your home box office rec room or theater, or for an interior designer project. I will be listing several electric signs from old buildings- theaters mostly: men’s room, ladie’s rooms, aisle signs, and some architectural lighting as well. If you’re looking for something specific, feel free to ask. I can ship this fixture to the continental USA for $22. Dimensions are 13" wide by 6” tall and 4.25” depth. Sold as shown and described.
