Year 2000

Renowned French luxury crystalmanufacturer, Lalique, made this heavy champagne cooler/ice bucket. The piece -originally designed in 1948 by Marc Lalique and titled 'Ganymede' after themythological youth kidnapped by and eventual cupbearer to Zeus - has a flaredbody with incorporated handles. The exterior of the front and back feature apair of molded satin-finished dancing nudes executed in deep relief and setagainst a background of molded grape leaves.The champagne cooler/ice bucket is in excellent "as new" conditionwith no chips, cracks or repairs and shows little to no sign of use. The piecestands 9" tall and is 7.5" across the mouth. It is 9.5" acrossas measured from the outside edges of the handles. The foot is 6" indiameter and is signed "Lalique France" in diamond pointThis lovely champagne cooler/ice bucket displays beautifully and would be awonderful addition to a grouping of fine serving pieces, or works equally wellshowcased on its own. A beautiful and useful piece sure to be noticed whereverit is displayed. Functional art, which will hold its value;the bucket is in fantastic practically unused condition.
