Colonial Williamsburg

Historical Miniatures by Lang and Wise

Lang and Wise made incredibly detailed, miniature, ceramic replicas of buildings from the historic area of Williamsburg, VA. The original buildings date to the 18th century. These reproductions brilliantly capture the vivid details of the originals down to individual bricks, boards, and trim. The buildings include lights further adding to their ambiance. They are now long out of production(OOP) and are quite difficult to find. They would make a great gift for any one interested in colonial history, Virginian history, or anyone who loves high-quality, ceramic, miniatures. Lang and Wise also made a wide variety of accessories to go with these buildings.

Historical background: Governor Edward Nott persuaded the General Assembly to authorize its construction with an act passed October 23, 1705, and building began the following summer. Alexander Spotswood arrived to replace the deceased Nott. The new chief executive pushed for the Palace\'s completion, and the entrance hall seems to have been completed in October of 1711. Spotswood had decorated it with a display of bayonet-tippedmuskets when WilliamByrd came to visit that month. Another act to finish and beautify the residence passed in 1713, but it was three more years before Spotswood took up residence, and the work was still incomplete in 1718.There stood a five-bay Georgian home laid up in Flemish bond with glazed headers and rubbed brick window jambs and lintels. It had three floors of about 3,380 square feet each, a cellar with 11 wine bins, a row of dormers in the roof, and an iron balcony at the central upper window.

Look at the “sold”section on and see that the Governor’s Palace sold for 299.00, a palace advance building sold for 175.00 and the palace gates sold for 55.00. At 375.00 for all 4 pieces, this is a good deal.

All are in excellent condition. Notice that the Governor’s Palace has the flag displayed atop the building, which I noticed is missing from other Governor’s Palaces sold on . Includes original green boxes, original interior lighting with electrical cord, and original styrofoam packing material.

With these 4 items you can display the Governor’s Palace just like it is in Williamsburg. See the last picture to see the real Governor’s Palace in Williamsburg.
