Japanese Wireless Cloisonne Enamel on Copper Plaque - Ando Jubei - Early 20th C.Japan, Early 20th CenturyEarly 20th century Japanese enamel on copper plaque with a woven basketry surround. Circa 1910 - 1920. Unsigned, but attributed to Ando Jubei, the great Japanese enamelist.
The copper plaque is decorated with a stylized floral design using thick enamels in the wireless cloisonne technique. The darkened copper outlines between the enamel . Dark blue enameled back. Mounted in a finely woven basketry surround.
SIZE : Diameter (total) - 8\" Diameter (enameled plaque) - 6\" CONDITION : Enamel plaque in good condition with no damage or restoration. Basketry with small losses and breaks.This piece will be a quality addition to any collection of American Art and will display beautifully in any Mid Century Modern, Tribal, Southwest, Eames Era, Art Deco, Modernist, Art Nouveau, or Arts and Crafts decor.
