JUDY RESNIK (April 5, 1949 - July 28, 1986), was an American electrical engineer, software engineer, biomedical engineer, pilot and NASA astronaut who died in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. Resnik the first Jewish astronaut, first flew as a mission specialist on STS 41-D, which launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida on August 30, 1984. This was the maiden flight of the Discovery. On her second spaceflight as a mission specialist on the morning of January 28, 1986, 72 seconds after liftoff, the shuttle exploded. Resnik and six fellowChallengerSTS 51-L crew members perished.

BOB CRIPPEN, (born September 11, 1937) is an American retired naval officer and aviator, test pilot, aerospace engineer and retired astronaut. Crippen, pilot, and John Young, commander, were thecrew of theColumbia, the first U.S. Space Shuttle mission, April 12-14, 1981. This was first flight of a reusable space shuttle and the first landing of a U.S. spacecraft on land.
