Up for sale is this old, Jicarilla Apache Native American storage basket. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This polychrome basket has a flat lid and three rod coil construction. The basket is approximately 6 inches tall and it has a maximum diameter of about 8 5/8 to 8 3/4 inches (the diameter varies slightly, depending on where it is measured). Unpacked, the basket weighs 9.6 ounces. It would be a great addition to a collection of southwestern Native American basketry.Identification
This Jicarilla Apache basket is vintage or antique, but the exact age is not known. It is from a northern California estate collection of Native American art and artifacts.Condition
The basket looks very good overall, as shown, with light wear. It has just a few minor breaks in the weaving material. The basket has minor dustiness. The colors are faded. It has no foul odors.
