The Bank has the unique distinction of being the only Mechanical Bank to represent a former United States President.

President Theodore Roosevelt, popularly known as Teddy, was a hunter and an avid adventurer.

This Bank was made as a representation and acknowledgement of his hunting skills.

Designed by Charles A. Bailey of Cromwell, Connecticut, the bank received its patent on February 19, 1907.this bank has patent applied for The Bank was manufactured by theJ. & E. Stevens Company of Cromwell, Connecticut.

MECHANICAL OPERATION: Push the bear’s head down into the stump andplace the cover over it. Pull the firing mechanism along the top of the rifle barrel back until it locks into place. At the same time, Teddy’s head lowers as if to take aim. Place a coin on the firing mechanism and pull the lever located between Teddy’s legs towards you. Teddy’s headsnaps back as the coin is shot into the stump causingthe bear’s head to spring out of the top.
