This beautifully-detailed breast star is a high-quality replica of the Grand Cross of theOrder ofSaints Maurice and Lazarus(Ordine dei SantiMaurizio e Lazzaro), anorder of knighthood of the Italian Royal House of Savoy. The order was established in 1572.
The order wasa combination of the Order of Saint Maurice (founded in 1434) withthe medieval Order of Saint Lazarus. The order was awardedby the Italian crownfrom 1861 until 1946.
The Grand Cross breast star is worn on the leftbreast.
