INSANELY RARE EUROPEAN OCCUPATIONAL AMBROTYPE - A GENTLEMAN & A SUPERB DOLLHOUSE- I ask, when is the last time you have ever seen a quarter plate occupational ambrotype depicting a gentleman proudly standing next to his creation of what appears to be a Victorian Era dollhouse? The proportions seem in keeping with other antique dollhouses from this same time period. If this is in fact a French designed playhouse, this lucky little girl was in for a very special and magical treat. I am sure there are some antique doll collectors out there that would also die to own such a beautiful specimen as the one in this photograph. Spectacular details are captured in this one-of-a-kind ambrotype most likely taken in France judging from the original Passe Partout style wall frame.Good luck to all my clients winning this amazing occupational portrait from the mid-19th Century.
CONDITION:Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this cased image and as part of my description. The quarter plate ambrotype contains very nice contrast, tonal range, and excellent sharpness. Some sporadic spots can be seen primarily in the lighter areas of the plate. The subject matter must be considered insanely rare, as I have never encounter another since collecting myself. The framed photo still retains the original seals and hanging loop. The outside edge retains a single edging of black paper tape around the perimeter of the Passe Partout frame. Overall, a truly magnificent piece of photographic history. I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy this photograph in your collection of antique photography or to include in your photographs relating to antique dolls.
