Huichol MexicanIndian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the SierraMadre mountains in Mexico.Stunning, neon pink, lavender pearl, cranberry pearl and neon orange micro glass beaded boar pig. Handmade and one of the most unique Huichol sculptures. Using the traditional Huicholtechnique of pressing Campeche beeswax onto this resin/paper mache sculpture and adding(one-by-one) glass micro beads, this bright and sparkly pig depicts the offeringmessage.
The artist used clear orange with neon orange center beads as a background. We love how he added cranberry pearl glass beads as outlines and accents, some turned sideways for extra sparkle. The five Peyote flowers down his back and two on the back of his ears are all outlined in dark pink pearl, cranberry pearl and the flowers have centers in clear cranberry/pink center beads. On his head is a pearl/pink center Messenger deer.
His left side includes a Father Sun, the Peyote protecting Scorpion and five Messenger Deer protecting seven Peyote flowers. Interesting how these flowers, together make a large Peyote flower. Below is a large pearl bead Messenger Deer face with protecting Arrow ears and a larger full body Messenger Deer with Peyote in his belly.
On his right side, the God\'s Eye (protector of the children) is in the center of the Salamander, protector of the rain, with a Messenger Deer head and Prayer Arrow tail. The Corn is healthy and running up his right leg, the Father Sun adorns his back leg and the Eagle (symbol of the Shaman\'s ability to have visions) has rain on his wings for the success of the corn crops.
His underside has God\'s Eyes protecting his vital organs and the snake, God of the Ocean that brings rain, is seen on his back right leg. His feet are hand painted black. The best is his cute little curled 3D tail and snout with pearl colored bead accents. He has sparkly eyes and we love his eyelashes!
Each symbol has a specialmeaning for the Huichol Indians and the Huichol symbols within symbol artistry is so unique on this sculpture.
