Jacob is exploring new visions inKachina art, and is working with painted figures on Cottonwood root. In this hugedepiction, we see a Butterfly Kachina, measuring 27 inches tall. It is anintriguing blend of both painting and sculpture. The figure is stately andintricately detailed. It looks beautiful on the wall, although it standsperfectly well on its own. TheCottonwood Root which was used in this monumental work was harvested by me, personally,from a dead Cottonwood in Big Bug Creek, outside of Prescott. i gifted severalpieces to Jacob, and this is one of them. i am including a photo of the actualCottonwood tree.
