For your consideration is this very rare, authentic, 1930\'s / 1940\'s Society of Colonial Dames of the 17th Century medal. It\'s made by J.E. Caldwell Co and is marked Gold Filled on the medal and the top hanger bar. The top is engraved to a \"Col Richard Lee\" who according to genealogy records was the first \"Lee\" in the United States making him the patriarch to all in the original Lee family lineage in the United States. This is a very important piece of Lee family and early United States history. It\'s engraved to a \"F. Adele J. Townsley\" and bears a membership number of \"7204\". The medal is in great shape, and the original ribbon shows obvious wear as shown. The quality and craftsmanship on this piece is exceptional. About Colonel Richard \"the Immigrant\" LeeRichard LeeI (c 1613/1617 – 1664), later nicknamed \"The Immigrant\" was the first member of the Lee family to live in America; he emigrated from Shropshire, England to Virginia in 1639. Lee was a lawyer, planter, soldier, politician, and Member of the Virginia House of Burgesses. By the time of his death, Lee was the largest landholder in Virginia, with 13,000 acres, and perhaps the richest man in Virginia.
