This is a Volute Krater vase, with metal lead tag on handle - a beautiful museum copy of art pottery from the ancient Attica civilization (now modern Greece) that existed from 500 - 300 BCE. It is hand thrown terracotta, and hand-painted in exquisite detail in Greece and marked on bottom by a professional master reproduction artist.
Bottom reads: Attic Krater, Copy C480 B.C. Handmade in Greece.
The motif on the front of urn is a sacrifice of a young boar and it has a leaf design on the backside.
Circa 50\'s/60\'s.
Thick and heavy for its size, 4.5\" tall x 3.5\" wide at rim.
There appears to have been a small chip on top edge of rim, it was painted over, the paint matches so well I\'m thinking this may have been done when it was made.
There is a small manufacturing flaw on top rim of urn.
I still consider this urn to be in nice condition.
