Half Plate Union or Thermoplastic Pristine Wall Frame with Tintype

It is extremely rare tofind any thermoplastic wall frame that is purely “as-made” with no chips,fleabites, cracks or repairs. If you have been looking for one you just foundit!
This fragile 19thcentury frame is a miracle of survival,with the surface sheen as bright as the day it was made. It appears as afull-page item on page 481 of Paul Berg’s masterwork on cases and frames. Thetext in the book has the patent date that is molded on the bottom of the backincorrect, it is actually Dec. 15 1868, not 1858 as the book states.
This frame measures approximately 7.25\" x 10\". As thesize of these wonderfully collectible frames increases two things happen;first, they are much rarer in these larger sizes and secondly they are far moresubject to chipping over the years. This one is pure perfection. It presentlyholds a tintype of a distinguished gentleman. The tintype has good contrast,displays well, and is period to the frame. We wanted to leave it as found, butthis incredible frame deserves a higher quality image.
