Grape Agate is a very interesting material that was introduced to the market in the latter half of 2016. Since its discovery the Indonesian government had not allow it to be collected or exported until late 2016.This is directly purchased out of Indonesia personally from a gem trader whose specializes in materials of Indonesia such as confetti chrysocolla, native copper, palmea gem silica, materials from West Java , Northern Indonesia , grape agates, a new discovery which we will be listing soon of a chrysocolla Chalcedony , plume chrysocolla chalcedony and pink opalized petrified wood. These have been called Grape Agate, Grape Chalcedony, Amethyst Grapes and probably more names we have yet to hear. We originally called them Grape Chalcedony Agate due to their color, botryoidal formation and their cluster formation. Now we call these Grape Agate as they form combinations of fine brilliant purple radial aggregates "balls" that resemble a bunch of grapes that have a stunning three-dimensional form and enticingly sparkling luster. When viewed through Opti-Visors or magnification, each individual "ball" has finite crystallized drusy-like surfaces.Purple is a highly desirable color for mineral specimens as evidenced by the demand for Amethyst, Opalized Fluorite (Tiffany Stone) and Purple Fluorite to name a few. Like most new discoveries, it’s unpredictable to say how much more will be available, and what quality the specimens will be.Normally the best material tends to find its way to the market first, and the prices rise dramatically with demand and reduced availability. Prices have been all over for this material. Specimens at many high end dealers are still priced in the thousands of dollars. Specimens tend to be more affordable in the USA compared to what we have seen internationally. We hope you like these specimens as much as we do!Grapes and crystals are two things that don't seem related, but a relatively new find in Indonesia is bringing them together. On the market since 2016, grape agate is a new sensation. Pictures of the crystal are going viral and dealers are popping up all over Etsy and . The best examples of grape agate have brilliant purple spheres clustered together and look good enough to eat. But before you run out to make a purchase, it's a good idea to know more about what we're looking at.A variety of Quartz
In spite of this spherulitic growth pattern, thin sections show that this is not agate (Laurs & Rossman, 2018).Color can range from deep purple to very pale amethystine or whitish shades. There are also less commonly green ones (colored by inclusions of some clay mineral), and even specimens with purple and green spherules together.Poorly coloured specimens sometimes get dyed violet.Mindat ID:51479 (as Grape agate)

Chalcedony consists of microscopic and compacted crystals. Since it has no definite crystal shape, it grows as massive or amorphous crystals in volcanic and sedimentary rocks.weight: 152gramsShips same or next safe and secure from north east NJ
