Up for consideration is a General Tire Porcelain Sign.
This is the real deal. It is 100% guaranteed not to be a reproduction.
From the 1920's or 1930's.
78 inches tall by 17-3/4 inches wide. (78" high x 17-3/4" wide)
There are ZERO touchups anywhere on this sign, front side or reverse.
I've owned this sign for many years, and I have recently decided that it is time for someone else to enjoy it.
Made by Baltimore Enamel Co. The company began making porcelain signs in 1898 and closed its doors for good in 1943 because of metal shortages during WWII.
General Tire was founded in Akron, Ohio, in 1915.
The dozen photos provide the best description of this sign. Kindly message me if you need additional pictures or have questions.
As with all of my items, a cheerful refund will be offered if this sign is not as described.
IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFORMATION:
The cost of shipping is dependent on your address. The sign will ship from Zip 36067. I will ship using FedEx. I will mount the sign to a slender piece of plywood with wood stretchers that will provide strength against bending. Figure on a shipping size of 83" long by 23" wide and 3" in thickness. This should provide ample rigidity and allow for several layers of protective padding. The total weight will be 58 pounds. A $20 charge will be automatically added to the cost of shipping for the cost of the plywood and other packaging material.
PLEASE NOTE: I have found the shipping calculators to be generally correct. If, however, in the event that the actual cost I have to pay for shipping exceeds the shipping estimate by more than $10, I will expect to be reimbursed for the actual cost that exceeds the calculated estimate. This overage amount must be paid using Paypal before I will ship the sign. Conversely, if the actual cost for shipping is $10 or more less than the calculated estimate, I will refund the difference back to you using PayPal.
Local pickup is welcome at no additional cost.
Thanks for looking and may God bless!
