A GIGANTIC (just under 10\" tall) deep DARK AMETHYST colored antique FLAVORING EXTRACT bottle. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE bottle that is EMBOSSED and LABELED, label pictures a Victorian-era woman. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it all the way back to the 1800\'s.

• Bottle embossed: \"The Bacorn Company / Elmira, N. Y. / U.S.A.\" Then on BOTH sides it is embossed, \"THE / B / CO / TRADE MARK\".

• Condition: Bottle is in PRISTINE SPARKLING CLEAN condition. It has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Label too in good condition, may have some minor wear, wrinkle, but NO loss. Please see pictures for overall idea of condition.
  

• Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. late 1800\'s.

An EXQUISITELY BEAUTIFUL original bottle. The Bacorn Company prided themselves greatly with the fact that they actually manufactured all of their own bottled perfumes and extracts. Many times the embossed name on a bottle was the name of the person or company that distributed the product. For example, back in the 1800\'s, a company purchased bulk products and in turn, bottled and distributed the product under their own brand and name. Yet Bacorn advertised that they actually manufactured, bottled, and distributed their own, which I take it was very uncommon back in those times. Quite some time ago the old Bacorn Factory building in Elmira N.Y. caughtfire and burned. An antique picker was able to go through theburned out basement and salvage some boxes of company records,paper, bottles, labels, and so forth, that had never gone to market.In turn, we were able to purchase some of them from him. He was the only one who had access to this find so these are notpart of a mass ware-house find, but a finite amount of them wererecovered. How about the beautiful purple color? You hear about old glass turning purple in the sunlight ... The beautiful purple amethyst color of this bottle is the result of being made with manganese in the glass, a mineral that was pulverized and added to vats of liquid glass that acted as a decolorizing agent to turn the naturally colored aqua-tinted glass into a pure crystal clear colorless glass. Exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, triggers a chemical reaction and the manganese oxidizes and turns a wonderful amethyst color. With few exceptions, only glass made before 1914 will turn purple. Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make this a great looking bottle, but it also authenticates it as being truly antique! This is such an incredibly beautiful bottle and has somuch going for it, being embossed AND with the original paper labelthat it seems almost to good to be true,check it out!
