Frank Lloyd Wright Coonley Playhouse Set of Three Stained Art Glass Panels
The Frank Lloyd Wright Coonley Playhouse Set of Three Stained Art Glass Panels is based on art glass panels in the Avery Coonley Playhouse, Riverside, IL (c.1912). Wright referred to this triptych as a \"kindersymphony\". Unlike Wright\'s early designs with their nature derivations, the Playhouse windows are purely geometric in composition and feature bright, mostly primary colors. This design may have been inspired by a parade, the colored glass simulates a haphazard, yet controlled, arrangement of balloons, confetti and flags. The windows were the focal point of the playhouse, actually a kindergarten operated by Mrs. Coonley.
On these glass panels, enamel colors are individually applied to single sheets of glass which are then kiln fired to permanently fuse the enamels to the glass.
The panels are wood framed in black with matching stands.
