Vintage authentic Panoramic Photograph of the Fort Clayton Panama Canal Zone Medical Detachment on May 5, 1939 as photographed by E.O. Goldbeck of San Antonio, TX. Not sure why Goldbeck was there but he was a very well-known photographer in his day. Men in photo unknown but would love to hear from anyone with knowledge about this group. Photo is sealed with plastic wrap with carboard backing. We are leaving as is which affects our photo clarity. We believe the Fort was opened late 1920\'sand was aUnited States Armybase in the formerPanama Canal Zone, later part of the Republic of Panama. Fort Clayton was located northwest of Balboa, Panama, with the Canal located nearby. It closed in 1999 pursuant to theTorrijos-Carter Treaties. TheSouthern Command Networkand193rd Infantry Brigadewere both headquartered there, as was the headquarters ofUnited States Army Southprior to its relocation toFort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. It is now used for residential housing, schools, and the headquarters of the \"Ciudad del Saber\" (City of Knowledge). Photo measures approx. 28 x 9.75\". No frame. Condition is acceptable there is wear along edges including tears and pieces missing in bottom corners. One longer tear along top right. Also scuffs and foxing.
