Fabulous Zuni Butterfly Bolo Abalone, Coral, Jet, Turquoise Mosaic Inlay 1957-67:
$594.15

Welcome!

Fabulous! I am offering for your consideration a knockout fabulous butterfly bolo by an unknown artist. This artist uses abalone shell for the wings and the choice of shell is very iridescent with browns and purples, greens, pinks, mauves, every possible color reflected from these stones. The body of the butterfly is coral and jet and turquoise in rounded mosaic inlay and the antennae are made of hand pulled wires with hand stamped raindrops for the eyes and mouth and decorating throughout. The artist uses finely serrated bezel settings to hold the stones. This is a truly wonderful piece that either was originally made with wires holding the tie or as a pin and was converted to become a bolo in 1957-1967, based on the date of the back of the Bennett which is a c31. I had a top quality buttery soft tie made for it and the tips are perfect for it, too. It's superb in every way.

The measurements are 1-5/8" (4.18 cm) wide x 1-7/8" (4.76 cm) high and the tips are 1-5/8" (4.18 cm) high. The tie end to end with the tips included measures 40-1/2"(102.87), in very lush dark brown color.

This is a stunning example of early Zuni top quality inlay work and it's highly collectible as well as being beautiful to wear. It's a great treasure which is thoroughly delightful to wear. It will make you smile as it does me. It's a fabulous bolo.
