American 18th century pipe tongs.The tongs are for getting embers from the fire to light the pipe and to clean the pipe ,tamp down the tobacco and hold on the top while starting.The tongs are of excellent quality and design.They are unusually small being only 14 3/4 inches long and 4 inches wide.They have a step molded handle transition to the legs of the tongs.
