Rare old Antique Vintage dark Cobalt Blue Italian Soda Water bottle San Francisco, California, c1856-1863. Likely made by Union Glass Works, Philadelphia, PA. This donated bottle has the “Union Glass Works, Phila” logo stamped out for some unknown reason – notice the faint horseshoe shaped embossing. The logo usually appears on the opposite side of the bottle with the Italian Soda lettering. Embossed lettering in front reads “Italian Soda Water Manufactory, San Francisco”. Blob top (mouth) & graphite pontil (point where the turning rod was attached). This bottle does need a good cleaning & polishing. Measures 7¼” tall & about 2¾” wide, wt. is 14.9 oz. This is definitely a cool piece of old history & a real treasured find, a beautiful example of Gold Rush California. This would make a great addition to your collection.
