Here is a tiny medical instrument usedback in the 1800sto bleed people that were thought to have an illness in the blood. Also called Blood Letting, it was believed you could remove infections and other conditions by letting it out with the blood. It measures just 2 inches long and comes in its original handmade and fitted leather tooled box. The box has a phrase tooled into the top, in German, reading \"Frau nicht es stitch\" which loosely translates to, \"Woman that does not sting.\" I just love the hand stitched fitted leather lining and the tiny hook and eye catch. Great care went into the making of this piece. The bleeder itself is made of Brass and Steel, with ornately engraved brass grips on both sides. The back panel slides open and out, hopefully for cleaning. The panel will not go back in, but I have not tried to force it, cool it, or oil it. It is in the exact same condition it was in when I found it in the home of a descendant of a Civil War colonel from NJ. I have another folding type pocket bleeder I obtained from the same house. These have been in my own collection for several years, but it is time to downsize! This very special piece is the one you want for your own collection! Please review the photos for a complete description.
