CRAZY RARE - THE THREE EARLIEST PHOTO PROCESSES IN A MINT \"SEA SHELL\" UNION CASE:
$270.00

CRAZY RARE - THE THREE EARLIEST PHOTO PROCESSES INSIDE A MINT DOUBLE COMPARTMENT \"SEA SHELL\" CASE - SUBJECT ID\'ED - I dare you to find another double compartment case that holds not just two of the earliest forms of photography, but all three processes spanning the hard plate era. When you open this mint condition thermoplastic case, you will be greeted by a copy of a daguerreotype on a clear glass ambrotype and an early tintype. I cannot remember seeing another example of a daguerreotype, ambrotype and tintype all contained in a single case before, can you? I do not believe these two images are of the same subject at different times. On the left hand side is is an attractive lady in her 1840\'s attire and you can clearly see the same period brass mat at the bottom of the image. The image of the woman on the right was definitely captured on one of the earlier forms of un-coated tintypes, compared to the later era tintypes where varnish would be applied after the development. In many ways you are considering a photographic time capsule of the three earliest forms of photography. The backside of the tintype also contains the identification of the woman on the right as, Mrs. Rufus Thompson (See my last listing photo). Incredibly, these two images both contain matching mats and preservers and are housed in a mint condition thermoplastic case known in Berg\'s 19th Century bible on cases as, 2-65 \"Sea Shell\" and listed as Scarce. I am proud to offer this unique piece of photographic history here on . Good luck to my winning buyer.

CONDITION:Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description. Berg lists this thermoplastic case for $150.00 alone. Themint case has no chips, cracks or imperfections I can find. The case has nice hinges, the working clasp mechanism and matching rails. The two original paper labels are still present behind the plates. The sixth plates are both in very good antique condition and are displayed in identical mats and preservers. Mrs. Rufus Thompson\'s identification card is on the backside of the tintype plate. Her portrait has gold accents added to the decorations in her hair. Warm colored hand tinting was applied to the woman\'s face in the ambrotype on the left. I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy this cased set of images in your collection of 19th Century photography.
