CLASSIC GOLD NUGGET SPECIMEN .66 GRAM NATURAL GOLD AND QUARTZ:
$90.00

GOLD NUGGET
SPECIMEN from CALIFORNIAU.S.A Gold
For collectors of native gold, here's a rich, rugged slug from the California Mines. The gold you see packed into this small chunk of precious metal shows great color and character. Within this tangled-up network are a myriad of nooks and crannies. No, you won't get your money's worth in precious metal. You're buying a specimen, not bullion, jewelry, or coinage. Matrix rock lies embedded inside the folds of gold, but only a few minute particles of quartz is evident. Having mined gold for nineteen years, I guarantee the high quality of the Au. It's the real McCoy, folks. Featured specimen is from California's Sierra Nevada Mtns.Quartz veins are seldom uniform in richness. Once in a blue moon, somebody stumbles onto a pocket of bonanza ore. There are those who specialize in hunting pockets. If you were to trace an exposed vein outcropping across the surface of some desolate mountainside, a few lenses along that entire span might be rich enough to yield specimen-grade. Once erosion removes this material from it's 'mother lode', it can lie hidden in a pediment zone directly beneath these 'blowouts'. Detectorists encounter them as nugget patches ripe for the picking - full of eluvial placer and crystalline gold. Much of it still has the host rock or pieces of gangue attached. That's basically what we have here. The featured nugget shows no sign of weathering. Enriched pockets of hard rock gold generally 'pinch out', but occasionally, by going deeper into the vein, another pocket might be encountered.
Please check my response for any disputes arising from non-authenticity issues. There are none.Specimen weight: .66 Gram - 10.2 GrainsSize - 10.4X6.2X4.4 mmRuler (if shown)is 1/4" wide (actual size). For thosewho knowtheups and downsof theprecious metals market, thisisa heck of a deal. Buy it and if the market drops dramatically in the next 30 days, you can return it for what you paid for it. That's a pretty cool insurance policy for precious metal buyers. I think most specimen buyers, however, are more interested inthese rocks for their intrinsic beautyandcollectability than they are for their gold content.GOLD-BLOODED MINERIt’s been my experience that finding a little gold can be almost as much fun as finding a lot. Making consistent pay, however, is high on every seriousminer's wish list. This hunt for pieces of shiny yellow metal gets into a person's blood. If you've grown tired from working the grid and yearn for freedom from another man's collar, striking out for the goldfields can be like living the dream. Back when I swung a real pick, not this 'silver one', placer mining found itself a convert. Even after realizing how much effort it took to find one shiny little nugget, I got hooked on the grunt work. Outlook makes all the difference. Following a day of chucking rocks and swinging a pickaxe, I took pride in my callouses and my exhaustion. In the desert especially,I learnedwhere gold liked to hide. Often, it showed up in places where no one else thought to look. Tracing leads down through some meandering drywash or creekbed is like piecing together a jigsaw puzzle. You hunt for specific features around the landscape. They provide solid clues, evidence of gold hidden within the earth's skin and, much of the time, deeper beneath her epidermal crust. By remaining observant, by reading signs etched into the surrounding terrain by erosion, nature led me to my quarry. While failing to hit any big bonanzas or monster nuggets, I found substantialcolor in several mining districts - 10 to 20 oz seasons and nuggets over 2 oz. This was all done by hand. No heavy equipment was used other than 5" and 6" suction dredges. Meanwhile, some associates found incredible sums of gold. Much to their credit, these were hard-charging, opportunistic prospectors and miners; savvy gold hunters; determined to reach that ever-elusive goal of 'rich ground ahead.' Small-scale mining is highly individualistic. Each miner/prospector achieves their own successes or failures. While pursuing that dream, I came to believe that a man's word (my word) should count for something. In keeping it, one could stand tall amongst their peers. No skulking about in the shadows of mistrust concerning one's own integrity. If a claim or property owner asked for 20%royalty and you agreed to those terms, 20% iswhat they get. One's word should be their bond, their promise that something will be done. Nowadays, so often it seems we're living in a time when ethical principles have no place. Many seem attracted to the dark side suffering no qualms about partaking in pillage, plunder, and larceny. They take what they want with no thought toward how their conduct effects themselves and others. It's my belief one reaps what they sow. Chances are, in time, those living by the outlaw creed receive their just desserts. Integrity matters. If there'sonelesson about prospectinga guy who's beentheremightpass on, it’s"go where the gold is, not whereitisn't". Lesson number two - "seek happiness through an honorable life."Gold of Eldorado3-10-13
